As a friend of our family said as she lost over 100 pounds- "fruits and vegetables.
Any combination works and the freshest are the best.
We eat very little prepackaged foods, treats are home made and simple ingredients.
Our meals have a lot on our plates, but its mostly "fruits and vegetables"
with smaller amounts of other items from the food pyramid.

As a Holisitc Health Counselor I teach my clients to buy fresh vegetables and fruits. When you open the fridge and see fresh fruits and vegetables instead of processed foods it makes the decision really easy. Also have the fruits and vegetables washed and easily accesabile so you will have a greater chance of eating them. Learning nice simple recipes is always a great idea too so you know how to use those fresh wholesome ingredients.

I find that salads are the easiest way to get enough veggies into my diet. I use lettuce, spinach or kale as a base then add nuts, cheese, meat, other veggies, even fruit. In need of some inspiration? Delicious Living has just put up some new salad recipes on the website.
